Trouters, also known as Squiglies or Squigly Fish, are common enemies that appear in the stage Super Mabobo. They hail from Super Mario Bros. 2.
Origin[]
Squiglies' original name is Trouter. They appear in the NES game Super Mario Bros. 2 and originally appeared in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic in Japan as enemies.
In The Game[]
They are spread by Karnov in the Super Mabobo stage, along with K-Pellets. They cannot be defeated, but they can be eaten by Abobo to be spit out at other enemies. If Abobo touches them, he will take damage.
A single Squigly is one of the various NES characters that is vomited out of Kirby's mouth after he is defeated in Contrabobo.
Squigly's name and image appears in game's credits (listed as "Squigly Fish"), which are based off the credits of Super Mario Bros. 2.
Trivia[]
- Prior to Abobo's Big Adventure, Squigly starred as a playable character in a Newgrounds flash game called Squigly Fish Racer v.10 by I-Mockery (one of the game's creators). Squigly also appears in Domo-Kun Angry Smashfest!, another Newgrounds flash game made by the same creator (I-Mockery), which has a similar concept to Abobo's Big Adventure).
- The word Squigly could also refer to how the way Trouters move.
- In the demo of Abobo's Big Adventure, Squiglies appear in early version of Super Mabobo but are seen throughout the level and have different swimming animations.
